Akira Kurosawa‘s last film!

Legendary Japanese director Akira Kurosawa's last film is a homage to the man who inspired him. Warm, sentimental and rousing, MAADADAYO means "not yet" in English, and tells the story of a retired teacher with a renowned lust for life, and the devoted students who maintain contact with him.

Throughout the war, occupation, and reconstruction of Japan, they meet annually to toast the Professor's birthday—where he drinks an oversized glass of beer in a single draft, and his students raucously parody a game of hide-and-seek, asking him "Are you ready (for the end)?", to which he defiantly replies, "Not yet!"
