On August 5, a reception was held at the Consulate-General of Japan in Auckland to celebrate the establishment of the Youth Advisory Council of the Japan New Zealand Business Council (YJNZBC), which was set up by the Japan New Zealand Business Council(JNZBC) with many of the young people who previously participated in the JENESYS program as its members. |
The Youth Advisory Council of the Japan New Zealand Business Council |
Brian Martin (chairman of the JNZBC) spoke of his gratitude to the Japanese Government for inviting many young New Zealanders to Japan over the past few years through its JENESYS program, which has not only contributed to vitalise the JNZBC and its committee members, but made a great contribution to the business relationship between Japan and New Zealand as a whole. However, as time passes the young New Zealanders who have participated on the JENESYS program forget their experiences in Japan and after returning back to their places of work they begin to lose contact with one another. Therefore the JNZBC decided to call together the former JENESYS participants across the country to create an organisation of young business people with an interest in Japan to work in close coordination with the JNZBC committee. The organisation is formed with the hope of repaying the Japanese government’s efforts until now in carrying out people-to-people exchanges and the conviction that these young people will take the lead in the future economic relations of our two countries. |
