Every year the Consulate General of Japan and the Japanese Society of Auckland jointly hold “Japan Day”. This is a Japanese summer festival where you can experience all kinds of Japanese cultural activities such as Japanese food, a Kimono show, tea ceremony, Karuta (card game), Omikoshi (portable shrine), stalls, a beer garden, cosplay, and Bon Odori (dance).
This year’s festival the festival was held for the 14th time and there was a record turnout of 50, 000 people. The next Japan Day is scheduled for April 2016. When the details have been decided we will display them on this website.
