On Friday 7 July 2023, Consul General Matsui exchanged views with members of the Japan Operators Meeting (JOM).
JOM is a group of seven Japanese-affiliated travel agencies in Auckland, which regularly exchange opinions and share information about tourism in New Zealand.
JOM members briefed Consul General Matsui on the current situation of Japanese tourists in New Zealand and explained how the information communication system works in the event of an emergency.
Consul General Matsui emphasized that the safety of Japanese nationals in the region is the first priority and that JOM plays an important role. He also stated that he would maintain close contact with JOM and continue to cooperate in case of emergencies.
