11 years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011. Take a look at some of the recent developments in revitalization after the disaster.

Revitalization of Fukushima

This video introduces the activities of young entrepreneurs who have gathered in Fukushima Prefecture and are building a community to further revitalization in the area.
  Introducing the delicious produce of Fukushima Prefecture. Featuring efforts from the Daishichi Sake Brewery which is finding popularity overseas as Japanese Sake makes it way in overseas markets.
  Fukushima Today is a social media project that shares the charms of Fukushima to the world. One of the current presenters is Liam from New Zealand, a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) on the JET Programme in Fukushima Prefecture.
 

Iwate Prefecture/Miyagi prefecture Tourist attractions

This short video introduces the people of Iwate and Miyagi who are moving forward, overcoming the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the charms of both prefectures.

Import restrictions on produce from Japan lifted

Due to Japan’s stringent food safety initiatives, more than 50 out of 55 countries and regions have already lifted and eased their import measures on Japanese food products in the wake of the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

TOKYO 2020

After a decade since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, the Tokyo Olympic Games (held in 2021) was also an opportunity to show the ongoing reconstruction of the affected areas and gratitude to those around the world for their support. Through the Games local people built good relationships with its participants.
