On Thursday 20 June, Consulate-General of Japan in Auckland hosted a school group from Hillcrest High School (26 students, Year 11-13). The most famous therapeutic baby seal robot in the world Paro welcomed them. The cuddly Paro was very popular with students. Students also enjoyed watching a video clip about Rugby World Cup 2019 and Tokyo 2020.
For the last half of the visit, Japan Tea Goodwill Ambassador Ms Chiwako Hoshina gave them a special talk and workshop on Japanese tea. They learnt the best way to brew teas with Japanese tea pot and savored a selection of Japanese teas and discovered the diversty of aromas and flavours. Also, Ms Hoshina introduced the many health benefits of high quality Japanese Tea.
This Japanese tea workshop is perfect introduction for studetns; differentiation of the types of Japanese teas, tea wears and the benefitical effects of Japanese teas for everyday life.
*Ms Chiwako Hoshina is officially recognized as a Japan Tea Goodwill Ambassador by Japanese government and the only certified Japanese tea advisor in New Zealand. Her workshop is perfect for senior students.
