Please note the new times for the Sunday 5 July 2026 test below. You must arrive for your test at the beginning of the check-in time to hear instructions. You will not be allowed to enter the test room after the end of the check-in time.

  • Examinees are allowed to take one level only on the test day.
  • Type into the first page of the editable PDF, and pages 2-5 will automatically be filled.
  • Print out all 5 pages of the form on single-sided A4 paper and sign by hand.
  • Glue 2 identical passport-sized photos, not photocopies, to the test vouchers.
  • Applications can be sent by post or brought into our office. No appointment needed.
  • Application forms will not be accepted by email.
  • The test fee is non-refundable and the test date and site cannot be changed. If the test date is cancelled by our office the test fee will be refunded.
  • For questions 7, 10-14 please refer to test guide.
  • The Examinee Registration Number will be filled out by the consulate.  
  • Application forms can also be picked up at the Consulate-General of Japan, or sent by post if you supply an A4 stamped ($4.90) self-addressed envelope.
Please note that the use of mobile phones, smartwatches and any other devices during the JLPT, including during break periods, is prohibited. Touching any device during the break is a violation of the test regulations. All mobile phones and devices will be collected at the beginning of the test and returned at the end. Thank you for your cooperation.

Examinees who wish to have their results sent overseas (i.e. outside of New Zealand) must pay an additional NZ$40 to cover overseas courier costs.
