Lone Kauri School

2018/5/8

On Thursday 12 April, consulate staff visited Lone Kauri school near beautiful Karekare beach to meet 20 students from year 1 to year 6 with our special guest, Paro robot seal from Japan

The cuddly Paro was very popular with children. Paro, the most famous therapeutic baby seal in the world, intended to be very cute and to have a calming effect on and elicit emotional responses from patients of hospitals and nursing homes, similar to animal-assisted therapy.

We also talked about Japanese foods. The students were very interested to see surprisingly realistic Japanese food samples.  Then, students learnt how to wear Yukata (Japanese summer casual kimono) and happi coat.  They were especially enthusiastic when they got the chance to try on beautiful and colorful yukata.

Paro is now available for school visit! Please contact us, if you are interested in meeting with our friend Paro!
