Marcellin College

On Tuesday 7 March, consulate staff visited Marcellin College to meet 15 students (Y12 & Y13 Fashion & Textiles class) .
They are studing Japanese culture and designing garments inspired by it. We talked about the difference between Kimono and Yukata (Japanese casual summer kimono) and they learnt how to wear Yukata. They were enthusiastic when they got the chance to try on beautiful and colorful yukata.
We received a feedback from the teacher;
"Thank you so much for visiting us today. It was a really wonderful experience for myself and the students and we really appreciate the time and effort you both put into organising and running the session."
This topic (Yukata dressing) is one of popular topics for many schools in the Auckland region. We always look forward to meeting students with an interest in Japan and its culture.
