On 26 and 27 September, Overload, New Zealand’s largest anime and manga convention, celebrated its 20th anniversary at the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC).

The event brought together independent artists and international guests from Japan, South Korea, and Australia, with an artist market, exhibitions, cosplay competitions, panel discussions, and other activities celebrating the creativity and cross-cultural connections inspired by anime and manga.

On 26 September, Consul General Minoya delivered the opening speech, paying tribute to Director Seong Oh, as well as the artists, volunteers, and fans who have supported Overload over the past 20 years.

Special guests from Japan included Overlord author Kugane Maruyama and photographer Mit Photography. Japanese artists Koryu and 593 (GOKUMI), and the Auckland Japanese Society also exhibited, while Ladybeard’s energetic live performance brought great excitement to the venue.

Congratulations to Overload on its 20th anniversary!
