2019 Autumn Conferment of Decorations: Professor Mark R. Mullins

On 5 February, a ceremony was held at the Consul General’s residence for Professor Mark R. Mullins, recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon in the 2019 Autumn conferment of decorations.
Professor Mullins is the director of the Japan Studies Centre of the New Zealand Asia Institute, the University of Auckland, and has for many years contributed to the promotion of mutual understanding and academic exchange between Japan and New Zealand.
At the ceremony, Consul-General Minoru Kikuchi congratulated Professor Mullins on his achievements and presented him with the decoration.
Professor Mullins expressed his deepest gratitude to the Japanese government, the University of Auckland and those involved with Japan in Auckland for their support and cooperation in his research and activities up to now.
Professor Mullins’ family, friends and colleagues as well as other Japan-related members attended the ceremony to celebrate his achievements.
