Masayoshi Sekikawa, Director of Sakura TV, receives Consul General’s Commendation (8 April 2022)

On 8 April Consul General Hamada awarded Masayoshi Sekikawa the Consul General’s Commendation at the Consul General’s residence. The Consul General’s Commendations are awarded to those who have made remarkable achievements in relation to Japan.

Mr Sekikawa has been involved in introducing Japanese culture, promoting Japan tourism and Japanese produce, furthering sister city exchange and has contributed to development of the Japanese community with his work as previous president of the Nihonjinkai (Japanese Society of Auckland).

At the commendation ceremony Consul General Hamada noted Mr Sekikawa’s achievements and presented him with the certificate of commendation. Mr Yoshiji Narita, New Zealand representative of Daikoku Restaurant Group, spoke of Mr Sekikawa’s efforts and commitment to strengthening the positive relationship between Japan and New Zealand for many years. Mr Sekikawa expressed his desire to continue contributing to further mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and New Zealand.
