Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Auckland - Shinagawa Friendship City Relationship (4 September, 2023)

On 4 September 2023, Ms Kyoko Morisawa, the Mayor of Shinagawa City in Tokyo, Mr Yuichi Watanabe, the Chairman of Shinagawa City Assembly and other members attended the Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Auckland - Shinagawa Friendship City Relationship organised by Auckland Council. The celebration was attended byConsul General Matsui and representatives of Lynfield College which has continued student exchange with Shinagawa City. Congratulatory remarks were given by Ms Desley Simpson, Auckland’s Deputy Mayor. Mayor Morisawa stated that she would like to overcome the pandemic of COVID and revitalise economic and cultural (especially sports and students) exchange. They agreed to continue to work together to further promote economic and cultural exchanges between the two regions.
On 5 September, the Shinagawa City delegation and Consul General Matsui visited the Ports of Auckland and exchanged views with CEO Roger Gray.
