On 23 and 24 September 2023, Sogetsu Auckland Branch held their annual Ikebana exhibition at Eden Garden in Auckland. Sogetsu Auckland Branch Director HIRANO Tomoko opened the event expressing her gratitude at being able to hold the exhibition without any restrictions this year, following last year’s exhibition which itself was the first event in 3 years. She also extended her celebration for her branch marking its 55th
anniversary. Consul General MATSUI made a speech, in which he paid his sincere respect to Sogetsu Auckland Branch for the decades of artistic creation and contribution as well as for spreading the practice of Ikebana in New Zealand. Consul General MATSUI also confirmed continued support for Sogetsu Auckland Branch by the Consulate-General of Japan.
The exhibition featured displays of the works by Sogetsu Auckland members and Ikebana demonstrations from Ms. MARTIN Takako and other members. Many visitors came to see the exhibition, which was a great chance for visitors to further their understanding of the traditional Japanese art of Ikebana.
