St Joseph's Catholic School Paeroa

2019/3/29

On Tuesday 12 March 2018, consulate staff visited St Joseph's Catholic School Paeroa (25 students, Years 6,7,8 combined) which is situated in Paeroa. This historic town is the home of the nationally famous soft drink, Lemon and Paeroa (L&P).

All students enjoyed the DVDs about Japan. Then they discussed the similarities and differences of school life in New Zealand and Japan.  Also they had a great fun with the following workshops.

1, Japanese food with surprisingly realistic food replicas and how to use chopstiks.
2, How to wear Yukata (Japanese traditional summer kimono) and Happi and Geta (Japanese traditional footwear).
3, Meet the most famous therapeutic baby seal in the world and try Japan's super stationery erasable pen.

We hope that they were inspired to continue having interest in Japan and Japanese language.
