Saeki Teruhiko ("Teru") is a gifted young boxer and the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year Championship. Having grown up together in the same apartment complex, Tomohara Tsutomu ("Ben") has always lived in Teru's shadow. Quiet and socially awkward, Ben finds comfort in shadowboxing, imitating the boxer he admires above all else.

When Teru suffers an unexpected defeat to Kitazawa, something within him quietly begins to unravel. Though he pretends nothing has changed, he gradually drifts away from boxing, leaving Ben with a profound sense of loss.

Unable to accept Teru's decline, Ben takes Teru's boxing gloves and sets out to confront Kitazawa himself. Whispering, "Teru never loses," he steps into the ring, determined to protect not only his hero, but the fragile world built around him.
