The Consulate-General of Japan in Auckland visited Western Heights Primary School (60 students Year 4-6) which is located in Rotorua with our special friend, world famous theraphy robot Paro on Thursday 23 March 2023. Rotorua is known for bubbling mud pools, shooting geysers and natural hot springs, as well as showcasing fascinating Māori culture.
Students watched DVDs about Japanese culture and School life in Japan and discussed the similarities and differences of school life in New Zealand and Japan. Also they learnt useful Japanese words. Then they had great fun with the following activities.

- Learning how to wear Yukata (Japanese traditional summer kimono), Happi (Japanese traditional coat).
- Learning about Japanese food with surprisingly realistic food replicas.
- Make and Play - Paper Plane & Play with Japanese Traditional Toys
