2025 JET Welcome reception
On 26 March, a reception was held at the Consul General’s residence to welcome back JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Programme participants who returned from Japan in 2024.

At the reception, Consul General MATSUI made a speech welcoming back the returnees and the newly returned JET participants shared their experiences of working as ALTs (Assistant Language Teacher) at schools in various regions of Japan and expressed their appreciation for the JET Programme.
Since JET participants have the important role to develop the future Japan-New Zealand relationship, Consul General MATSUI expressed his hope that the returned JET participants will engage in being a new bridge between two countries, while energizing the JET Alumni Association (JETAA) connections from now and beyond.

The reception was a great opportunity for networking as it was also attended by members of the Auckland JETAA, teachers from universities who have helped promote the JET Programme and the members of the JET Programme interview panel. We also enjoyed a buffet menu by the Consul General's Chef Mr Riku KITAZONO and drinks from Japan, made extra special as the dishes and drinks were chosen from the areas where each participant had stayed in Japan.
