Japan Foundation Travelling Exhibition Yokai Parade - Supernatural Monsters from Japan (29/9 – 6/11/2022)

The Consulate-General of Japan held the Japan Foundation Travelling Exhibition “Yokai Parade – Supernatural Monsters from Japan” at Auckland Central City Library from September 29 to October 6, in collaboration with Auckland City Council, Auckland Central City Library and the Japan Foundation.
 
This exhibition was spread over 3 floors of the Auckland Central City library and included displays, video screenings and related books and reading materials.
 
The opening ceremony was attended by many guests including Auckland Councillor Alf Filipaina.
A large number of related events were also organized in conjunction with the exhibition at Auckland Central Library: Taiko drumming, Japanese Calligraphy performance, a collaboration of Rakugo (story telling) and Tsugaru Shamisen, as well as youth events such as a contest to design an original Yokai, and a number of talks from experts on Yokai related topics.
