Shito-Ryu Demonstration and Technical Seminar (21 June 2025)

On June 21, Consul General MATSUI attended the karate demonstration event hosted by the Shitokai Shitoryu Karate Association New Zealand (SSKANZ) on the occasion of the visit to Auckland by Souke Mabuni Kenyu, Governor of the World Shitoryu Karate-do Federation.
We all enjoyed the performances of Ms Kiyou Shimizu, silver medalist in the women's karate kata at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Ms Andrea Anacan, who represented the Oceania region at the Tokyo Olympics, and the men's team kata team that achieved outstanding results at the recent Oceania Championships.
In addition to Hon Carlos Cheung, MP for Mt Roskill, the consular corps, representatives of different martial arts, and karatekas from New Zealand, Australia, and New Caledonia attended, captivated by the powerful and dynamic demonstrations. Following the event, karatekas engaged in technical training sessions, working up a sweat on the mat.
